That lady, her husband, and their two children were driving after an afternoon visit to an aquarium when they were hit head-on by what they say was an obviously drunk driver.
The defunded and critically understaffed Austin Police Department, however, took so long to get to the scene — 2.5 hours — that by the time they arrived to book their drunk suspect the guy had sobered up and ended up walking away scot-free.
Lacey Purciful took to TikTok to tell her story from the scene, and then did an interview with Fox News, saying that the guy swerved across two lanes of traffic and slammed straight into them.

“Head on, didn’t hit the brakes, airbags deployed, screaming kids, smoke, adrenaline, we started screaming, and got the kids out of the car.”
“He sat in the car for over 30 minutes and then when he got out of the car he fell to the ground and was making weird noises and just acting weird,” Purciful said.
“Everyone could smell alcohol on this man. He openly admitted what he was drinking. He told my husband he was drinking High Noons. It isn’t just me making accusations he was just straight-up coming out and telling us and there was no remorse.”
But he didn’t get into trouble because there were no police officers to show up and arrest him.
Wouldn’t you know it, in the wake of George Floyd’s death and the ensuing BLM/anti-police riots in 2020, Austin City Council slashed their police budget.
On top of that, morale has remained so low among law enforcement that the Austin PD has not been able to secure enough new recruits to match the accelerating rate at which their officers are throwing in the towel and ditching their jobs.
